Composite Technology Research Malaysia
Composite Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM), also written Composites Technology Research Malaysia, is a Malaysian aerospace and advanced-composites company founded in 1990 and headquartered in Shah Alam, Selangor. The firm's core business is composite aerostructures, but it also designed and manufactured Malaysia's first indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle programme. CTRM is now part of the DRB-HICOM group's defence-technology arm, DEFTECH.
In January 2007, CTRM joined a Malaysian government-backed consortium with Unmanned Systems Technology (UST) and Ikramatic to develop a locally made UAV, which produced the Aludra Mk1. The Aludra first flew in 2007 and entered Malaysian Armed Forces service around 2010; roughly 15 airframes were built. CTRM went on to develop several follow-on Aludra variants, including the smaller, lighter-weight Aludra SR-10 surveillance UAV, as well as later Mk2 and Mk5 versions and prototype derivatives such as Aludra Camar and Aludra EE.
Aludra-family aircraft have been used operationally by the Malaysian Army and Royal Malaysian Air Force, including border-surveillance duty in Sabah, and continue in service with the Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency.
