JSC Sukhoi Company
Sukhoi is a Russian military aircraft design bureau and manufacturer founded in 1939 by Pavel Sukhoi, headquartered in Moscow. Long known for fighter aircraft such as the Su-27 family and the Su-57 stealth fighter, Sukhoi became part of the state-owned United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) after a 2006 government-led merger of Russia's major aircraft design bureaus, including Mikoyan, Ilyushin, Irkut, Tupolev and Yakovlev.
History and products
Sukhoi was selected in 2011 to lead development of Russia's first heavy unmanned combat air vehicle, the S-70 Okhotnik-B, working jointly with Mikoyan and drawing on the earlier Mikoyan Skat UCAV concept and on structural and systems technology from Sukhoi's own Su-57 fighter programme. The stealthy, flying-wing S-70 first flew in 2019 and remains in flight testing, with a long-term goal of operating alongside, or under the direction of, crewed Su-57 pilots in a "loyal wingman" role.
