Schiebel
Schiebel is an Austrian manufacturer founded in 1951 and headquartered in Vienna, with a production facility in Wiener Neustadt. It began as an electronics component maker, expanded into mine-detection equipment during the mid-1980s, and moved into unmanned helicopter development from the mid-1990s onward.
History and products
Schiebel's flagship product is the Camcopter S-100, a vertical take-off and landing helicopter drone that needs no runway or launch equipment, making it well suited to naval and shipborne operations. More than 540 S-100 systems have been delivered to over 30 military, coast-guard and civilian operators worldwide, and the type has flown from French, German and British naval vessels as well as land bases. The company has since introduced the larger Camcopter S-300 to extend its helicopter-UAV range.
