Selex ES was an Italian-UK defence electronics company formed on 1 January 2013, when Finmeccanica (now Leonardo) combined its SELEX Galileo, SELEX Elsag and SELEX Sistemi Integrati subsidiaries into a single business. It was headquartered jointly in Rome, Italy, and Basildon, United Kingdom, and at the time of its merger into Leonardo employed around 16,000 people with revenue of more than €3.5 billion.
The company built avionics, radar, electronic-warfare, air-traffic-control and cybersecurity systems alongside unmanned aerial systems, including the Asio-B mini-UAV developed for the Italian Army's Forza NEC programme. Selex ES ceased to exist as a separate entity on 31 December 2015, when its operations merged into Finmeccanica's Electronics, Defence and Security Systems sector, which was rebranded Leonardo S.p.A. from 1 January 2016. Aircraft and systems originally developed under the Selex ES name are now supported by Leonardo.
