Skyfront is an American maker of hybrid-electric long-endurance drones, founded in 2014 in Redwood City, California, to address the short flight times of battery-only multirotors.

History and products

Skyfront set out to match the range and endurance of a manned helicopter at a fraction of the cost, and after researching propulsion options the company built its aircraft around hybrid-electric power: a small combustion engine and generator paired with electric motors, rather than batteries alone. That design became the Perimeter line, which Skyfront says holds a company-reported endurance record of over 13 hours for a commercially available multirotor, though the company did not pursue independent verification of the figure. Its production Perimeter 8 was the first multirotor to receive Green UAS NDAA certification in 2023, and the company later received Blue UAS Select status in 2025. Skyfront has sold Perimeter aircraft to civil mapping, survey and inspection operators internationally, and in 2026 the United States Army contracted the company to field the aircraft with Army units and train soldiers on it.
