Wisk Aero

Wisk Aero is a United States developer of self-flying electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to operate as autonomous air taxis. It was formed in 2019 as a partnership between Boeing and Larry Page's Kitty Hawk, and is based in Mountain View, California. Boeing acquired full ownership in May 2023, making Wisk a wholly owned Boeing subsidiary.

What the company builds

Wisk has worked through six generations of aircraft and reports more than 1,750 test flights. Its fifth-generation aircraft, Cora, flew a public autonomous demonstration at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in July 2023, and in October 2023 Wisk conducted public flights at Long Beach Airport in Los Angeles County. The Generation 6 design is a four-passenger aircraft with no onboard pilot.

Where things stand

Wisk announced the first test flight of its Generation 6 certification model in December 2025, which it describes as a candidate for FAA type certification of an autonomous eVTOL. SkyGrid became a Wisk subsidiary in June 2025. In August 2026 Boeing and Archer Aviation signed definitive agreements for Archer to acquire Wisk alongside Insitu and SkyGrid, with Boeing retaining access to Wisk's autonomous flight technology; the transaction was expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
