Zipline

Zipline is a United States logistics company founded in March 2014 in Half Moon Bay, California, by Keller Rinaudo Cliffton, Keenan Wyrobek, Ryan Oksenhorn and William Hetzler, and now headquartered in South San Francisco. It designs, builds and directly operates its own fleet of autonomous fixed-wing delivery aircraft rather than selling drones to other operators.

The company began commercial operations in Rwanda in 2016, delivering blood and medical supplies to remote health facilities by parachute drop from its original aircraft, later known as Platform 1. It has since expanded to Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Japan and the United States, with service planned for Ukraine and the United Kingdom. By January 2026 Zipline said it had completed more than two million commercial deliveries and flown over 120 million autonomous miles.

Zipline unveiled its second-generation aircraft, Platform 2, in March 2023. Rather than a parachute drop, P2 hovers and lowers its package on a tether to a small delivery droid, and it recharges autonomously at ground stations called Chargers. It began serving its first customers in January 2025 and, in the United States, operates under a Part 135 air carrier certificate; the FAA's September 2026 draft environmental assessment for five Texas metro areas would let Zipline scale its Texas operations to as many as 220,000 deliveries a day, up from about 30,000 a day approved for its existing Dallas–Fort Worth service.
