HOVERAir VERSA
Zero Zero Robotics · China · also known as VERSA · Updated
HOVERAir VERSA is a convertible camera made by Zero Zero Robotics of China, launched on Indiegogo on 18 August 2026, that works as a handheld 3-axis gimbal camera and, with a snap-on flight kit attached, a self-flying drone. At 230 g it joins the HOVERAir AQUA as part of Zero Zero's newer HOVERAir product wave, separate from the earlier X1 / X1 Pro / X1 ProMax line.
Overview
VERSA extends HOVERAir's "self-flying camera" concept in a new direction: rather than being a dedicated drone, the base unit is a pocket-sized handheld gimbal camera that becomes an aircraft when a lightweight, snap-on propeller flight-kit chassis is attached. Zero Zero crowdfunded the product on Indiegogo starting 18 August 2026, where it passed its funding goal within its first day; the company has said it expects to ship early units from October 2026, followed by a wider retail rollout in fall 2026 through select stores and online channels, with a public showing at IFA Berlin 2026.
VERSA is sold in tiers: a camera-only package, a "Fly More"-style combo adding the flight kit, spare battery and charger, and a fully loaded creator bundle. Sales and shipping details, including for the flight-kit module specifically, have varied by market since the crowdfunding launch, and buyers should check HOVERAir's current regional availability before ordering.
Design and capabilities
In handheld mode VERSA measures about 36 × 31 × 147 mm and functions as a 3-axis mechanical gimbal camera; with its flight-kit wings attached it extends to about 176 × 31 × 147 mm and weighs 230 g in total, keeping it under the common sub-250 g threshold used by several aviation regulators. The camera uses a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor recording 4K video at up to 60 fps, with a 10-bit HDR and H-Log mode at 4K 30 fps, up to 17.5 stops of dynamic range, a 98° field of view (106° in an ultra-wide mode), and 12-megapixel stills, stored on 64 GB of built-in storage plus a microSD card of up to 1 TB. In flight mode HOVERAir quotes a maximum speed of about 36 km/h, up to 14 minutes of flight time, a flight-altitude ceiling of about 120 m and a maximum take-off altitude of about 3,500 m above sea level, with Level 5 wind resistance. The aircraft supports automated flight modes such as orbit, bird's-eye, zoom-out and motion time-lapse, alongside palm take-off and landing.
Use cases
HOVERAir positions VERSA as a single device for creators who want both a stabilised handheld camera for walking shots and interviews, and a self-flying drone for aerial b-roll, without carrying two separate pieces of equipment.
