R10
Skydio · United States · also known as Skydio R10 · Updated
R10 is a compact indoor quadcopter developed by Skydio of the United States, demonstrated at the company's Ascend 2025 conference in September 2025. It is built as an indoor counterpart to Skydio's larger X10, flying through confined spaces and tight gaps for public-safety and infrastructure-inspection work.
Overview
Skydio showed the R10 at Ascend 2025 alongside its first look at the fixed-wing F10 Lightrunner, which the company formally announced a year later at Ascend 2026. Skydio positions the R10 for jobs its larger, outdoor-focused aircraft cannot reach: building searches, high-risk vehicle stops, barricaded-suspect incidents and confined-space industrial inspections, where an aircraft needs to fit through doorways and narrow gaps rather than cover distance.
Design and capabilities
The R10 measures about 10 by 10 in (0.26 by 0.26 m) and weighs 1.73 lb (0.785 kg), built around a reinforced composite frame with fully enclosed propeller guards so it can brush against walls and furniture without damage. Two forward-facing stereo navigation cameras give a combined 180° field of view, paired with a "NightSense" system Skydio states can maintain obstacle avoidance in zero light. A 180°-pitch gimbal carries a 1-inch-sensor, 12.5 MP camera that records stabilised 4K video.
Two integrated high-power LED floodlights light dark interiors, and an 82 dB speaker with a built-in microphone lets an operator hold a two-way conversation through the aircraft, intended for use in crisis negotiation. A "Perch Mode" lands the R10 in place and keeps it streaming video for up to three hours, well beyond its powered flight time. The R10 can be launched locally and then handed to a remote pilot through Skydio's Ops Center or DFR Command software, or flown directly with a Skydio Controller 2. A "Turtle Mode" allows the aircraft to right itself after landing upside down, and it supports dual-SIM 5G/LTE connectivity alongside Skydio's standard Connect Fusion link. Media is encrypted end-to-end on infrastructure Skydio states is CJIS v6.0 compliant, and the aircraft integrates with Axon Evidence, Fusus, computer-aided dispatch systems and Esri Site Scan.
Use cases
Skydio markets the R10 to police and fire agencies for indoor reconnaissance ahead of entry teams, post-incident safety checks, and searches of buildings or vehicles, and to industrial operators for inspecting confined infrastructure such as tanks, ductwork and equipment rooms. It is designed to require minimal operator training compared with a manually flown indoor drone.
