CybAero

CybAero AB was a Swedish manufacturer of unmanned helicopter systems, founded in 2003 and headquartered in Linköping's Mjärdevi Science Park. Its technology traced back to research begun in 1992 by the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) and Linköping University, and the company was listed on the Nasdaq First North exchange from 2007. CybAero also maintained representative offices in Abu Dhabi and Connecticut to support defence and maritime-surveillance customers.

The company's core product line was the APID family of single-main-rotor VTOL helicopter drones, beginning with the Apid 55 test-bed that flew in Stockholm in January 2008, followed by the larger, higher-speed Apid 60, and later the APID ONE family of Defence, Rescue and Ranger variants announced in 2015. CybAero's programmes included ship-based evaluation with Sweden's Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and Navy aboard a Visby-class corvette, a teaming agreement with Spain's Indra Sistemas, joint UAV development with the US Naval Research Laboratory, and export orders toward Chinese customers including a customs authority and the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

CybAero filed for bankruptcy in June 2018 after Swedish authorities revoked export clearance for its AVIC-bound helicopter system on security-policy grounds, an event that compounded years of financing difficulties and leadership turnover. The company is defunct: its former website no longer resolves, and no successor manufacturer has continued production of its APID-series aircraft.
