Freefly Systems is an American maker of unmanned aircraft and camera-stabilization equipment, founded in 2011 by Tabb Firchau, David Bloomfield, Hugh Bell and Megan Fogel and headquartered in Woodinville, Washington.
History and products
Freefly began with the CineStar, a multirotor camera platform for aerial cinematography, before building its reputation in 2013 with the Mōvi M10, an early handheld electronic camera stabilizer that gave film crews a lighter alternative to traditional Steadicam rigs. The company's Mōvi line of handheld gimbals now ranges from the 5 lb-capacity M5 up to the 50 lb-capacity XL. On the aircraft side, Freefly followed its early CineStar hexacopter and octocopter with the ALTA ready-to-fly platform in 2015, and has since built industrial multirotors for inspection, mapping and public-safety operators alongside its cinema products.
