Kite Aero
Kite Aero is an Australian drone-logistics company based in Sydney, New South Wales, formed in 2025 under chief executive Philip van der Burg. The company was created specifically to acquire the assets of Swoop Aero, a Melbourne-based drone-delivery business that had built a reputation in autonomous medical and humanitarian logistics before entering voluntary administration in October 2024 and liquidation the following month.
On 31 March 2025, Kite Aero acquired Swoop Aero's key assets, including its long-range Kite delivery drone and its drone-operations software platform. Kite Aero has said it intends to reconnect with former Swoop Aero staff and partners to continue the aircraft's use in healthcare, vaccine and organ-transport logistics in multiple countries.
The company describes its mission as "making access to the skies seamless," with the Kite aircraft and its supporting software positioned as a complete flight-operations platform for long-range, beyond-visual-line-of-sight drone logistics rather than a single product. Kite Aero's leadership says the team draws on more than 50 years of combined experience in aerospace and uncrewed aviation.
