BETA Technologies

BETA Technologies is a United States electric aircraft manufacturer founded in 2017 and based in South Burlington, Vermont. It develops electric aircraft together with the ground charging infrastructure needed to operate them.

What the company builds

BETA has two main aircraft. The ALIA A250 is an electric vertical take-off and landing design, while the CX300 is a conventional take-off and landing aircraft built around the same airframe family. Both are aimed at cargo, medical logistics, passenger and military missions. The company has also built a network of chargers that can supply power to its aircraft and to other electric vehicles.

Where things stand

The CX300 received a special airworthiness certificate from the FAA in November 2024. In May 2025 BETA conducted Ireland's first fully electric piloted flight at Shannon Airport, and in June 2025 it completed what it describes as the first passenger-carrying flight by an electric aircraft in the United States. Air New Zealand began CX300 test flights in October 2025 and had completed more than 13,000 kilometres of cargo operations by February 2026. BETA completed an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BETA in November 2025.
