Global Industrial & Defence Solutions
Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) is a Pakistani state-owned defence conglomerate, founded in 2007 and headquartered in Rawalpindi, Punjab, and owned by the Government of Pakistan.
History and products
GIDS was established to build domestic defence-manufacturing capability across air, land and sea systems and to reduce Pakistan's reliance on imported military equipment. It began with conventional ordnance and protective equipment, including general-purpose bombs, depth charges, grenades, ballistic helmets and body armour, before expanding into guided weapons, precision-guidance and range-extension kits, anti-tank and man-portable air-defence missiles, and naval and undersea systems. GIDS describes itself as Pakistan's largest defence manufacturer and the country's largest state-owned UAV producer, building medium-range tactical, short-range hand-launched, and VTOL drone families including the Shahpar series, Uqab, Sarkash and Scout lines, alongside guided missiles such as Harbah and Baktar-Shikan and guided-bomb kits such as Al Battaar.
