Tekever Autonomous Systems

Tekever Autonomous Systems is a Portuguese aerospace and defence technology company headquartered in Lisbon, founded in 2001 by a group of engineers and researchers from the Instituto Superior Técnico. The company began as a software and intelligent-systems venture and moved into unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) development starting in 2010, later expanding into digital transformation services and satellite communications technology. Beyond its Lisbon headquarters, Tekever has established offices and manufacturing operations in the United Kingdom (Bristol), France (Toulouse), the United States (Fayetteville, North Carolina) and Estonia (Tallinn), and has announced plans for a new UK manufacturing facility in Swindon.

Tekever's unmanned aircraft product line spans several classes of fixed-wing UAS built primarily for military, coast guard and maritime-security customers. The catalogue includes the AR3, a small catapult-launched ISR platform with an optional VTOL configuration; the AR4, a lightweight, hand-launched mini-UAS intended for close-range tactical reconnaissance by small field teams; and the AR5, a medium-altitude, medium-endurance UAS built for maritime surveillance, maritime patrol and search-and-rescue missions with up to 20 hours of endurance. The company has also announced a larger platform, the ARX, described as its most advanced design to date.

Tekever's customer base includes the Portuguese Navy, Army, Air Force and National Republican Guard, along with export and service contracts covering Ukraine's armed forces, the European Maritime Safety Agency, and the United Kingdom, which selected the AR5 in 2026 for the British Army's Project CORVUS programme to replace its Watchkeeper UAV fleet. The company has attracted substantial international investment in recent years and, according to trade press, reached unicorn valuation status in 2025.
