ANAFI USA
Parrot · France · also known as Parrot ANAFI USA, Anafi USA, ANAFI USA GOV, ANAFI USA MIL, ANAFI USA SE

ANAFI USA is a folding inspection and reconnaissance quadcopter developed by Parrot of France and manufactured in the United States, launched on 30 June 2020. It weighs 500 g, carries two 21-megapixel cameras providing 32× zoom together with a FLIR Boson thermal core, and flies for up to 32 minutes. The aircraft is approved under the US Defense Innovation Unit's Blue sUAS programme and is used by several European armed forces.
Overview
ANAFI USA grew out of Parrot's work on the US Army's Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) programme, in which the company was one of two finalists in 2020, and on the Defense Innovation Unit's Blue sUAS initiative. It is an enlarged and hardened development of the consumer ANAFI of 2018, with the same folding-arm layout but a triple-camera gimbal, longer flight time and an IP53 rating.
The aircraft was announced on 30 June 2020 and, according to DRONELIFE, opened for pre-order on 27 July 2020 at 7,000 US dollars. On 31 August 2020 Parrot announced the NDAA-compliant, Blue sUAS-approved ANAFI USA GOV and ANAFI USA MIL variants for US government buyers. Wikipedia lists a further SE variant and notes that the aircraft is built in the United States by contract manufacturer NEOTech.
ANAFI USA remains in Parrot's current product line as of 2026, alongside ANAFI Ai and ANAFI UKR.
Design and capabilities
The airframe measures 252 × 104 × 84 mm folded and 282 × 373 × 82 mm unfolded; the specs block uses the unfolded length of 0.282 m and width of 0.373 m. Parrot lists the aircraft mass as 500 g and, in its product sheet, a maximum take-off mass of 644 g, which is the figure used above. A 3,400 mAh lithium-polymer battery gives a maximum flight time of 32 minutes (30 minutes on the MIL version) and recharges in about two hours from a USB-PD charger. Maximum horizontal speed is 14.7 m/s (52.9 km/h) and wind resistance is also 14.7 m/s. The service ceiling is 5,000 m above mean sea level according to Parrot; Army Technology quotes 6 km, and the manufacturer's figure is used here. The aircraft is IP53 rated against dust and rain, and Parrot quotes a deployment time of 55 seconds.
The gimbal carries two 1/2.4-inch 21-megapixel electro-optical sensors, one wide-angle with an 84° field of view and one telephoto, which together give up to 32× zoom, plus a FLIR Boson long-wave infrared core with 320 × 256 pixel resolution. Parrot states that the system can identify a person at 2 km and detect heat sources at up to 5 km. Recordings on the SD card are protected by AES-XTS encryption.
Army Technology gives a control range of up to 4 km over the Wi-Fi link, which is the figure in the specs block; Parrot's specification page does not state a transmission range. For its defence customers Parrot also offers a beyond-line-of-sight configuration that it says maintains a connection at more than 10 km.
Use cases
Parrot aims ANAFI USA at first responders, law enforcement, security-conscious enterprises and drone service providers, with the thermal camera used for search and rescue and fire-fighting and the zoom cameras for inspection of infrastructure from a distance.
Government and military adoption is documented by several sources. Defense News reported in January 2021 that the French defence procurement agency DGA ordered 150 systems of two drones each (300 aircraft) for about 30 million euros, to be split 60 percent to the Army, 28 percent to the Navy and 12 percent to the Air and Space Force; Parrot describes the DGA agreement as a five-year contract for several hundred drones. Parrot announced an additional procurement by the Luxembourg Armed Forces in September 2023. Wikipedia lists Italy, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom as users as of August 2025, records that Singapore Army intelligence used the type for training in 2022, and notes that examples were among drones donated to Ukraine.
