EHang VT35 is a pilotless, long-range passenger electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developed by EHang of Guangzhou, China, unveiled on 13 October 2025 at Luogang Park in Hefei, Anhui Province. It uses a tandem-wing, lift-and-cruise layout rather than the pure multirotor design of EHang's certified EH216-S, trading some of that aircraft's short-range simplicity for longer range between cities.

Overview

EHang describes the VT35 as a next-generation, long-range, compound-wing, autonomous passenger eVTOL intended for medium- to long-range routes, including intercity, cross-sea and mountainous transportation, as well as emergency rescue and logistics. It is designed to operate from the same vertiports EHang built for the EH216-S, extending the network EHang has established in China's low-altitude economy rather than requiring new infrastructure. The China Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) accepted EHang's type-certificate application for the VT35 in March 2025, ahead of the aircraft's public unveiling that October.

EHang completed the VT35's first public flight on 28 December 2025 at Feidong Bailong Airport in Hefei, which the company said validated the aircraft's safety, stability and reliability. As of that flight the VT35 remained in airworthiness-certification testing, with no type certificate yet issued. The Hefei municipal government has backed the programme as part of a low-altitude economy partnership with EHang dating to 2023, and EHang has said the VT35's production base is sited in Hefei.

Design and capabilities

The VT35 has a tandem-wing airframe 8.26 m long with an 8.16 m wingspan and a height of 3 m, and a maximum take-off weight of 950 kg. Propulsion is entirely battery-electric: eight distributed lift propellers handle vertical take-off and landing, folding or stopping for forward flight, while a single pusher propeller drives the aircraft once its fixed wings generate lift, in the lift-and-cruise configuration common to several long-range eVTOL designs. EHang quotes a payload of at least 200 kg, an economical cruising speed of at least 216 km/h, a flight endurance of about 60 minutes and a full-load design range of at least 200 km. The cabin carries two seats; EHang's unveiling announcement describes the VT35 as a two-seat aircraft with no pilot position, controlled and monitored the same way as the EH216-S, through EHang's command-and-control and fleet-management systems.

Programme status

The CAAC accepted the VT35's type-certificate application in March 2025. EHang unveiled the aircraft on 13 October 2025 and flew it publicly for the first time on 28 December 2025, both at sites in Hefei. As of the most recent EHang statements, the aircraft is undergoing airworthiness-certification testing; it has not yet received a type certificate, production certificate or standard airworthiness certificate, the trio of approvals the EH216-S holds. EHang has published a standard-version domestic list price of RMB 6.5 million for the China market.

Frequently asked questions

Is the EHang VT35 certified to fly passengers?

Not yet. It is undergoing CAAC airworthiness-certification testing after the type-certificate application was accepted in March 2025; it has not received a type certificate.

How far can the VT35 fly?

EHang quotes a full-load design range of at least 200 km and a flight endurance of about 60 minutes.

How many passengers does the VT35 carry?

Two, in a tandem-wing cabin with no onboard pilot, following EHang's unveiling announcement.

How is the VT35 different from the EH216-S?

The EH216-S is a pure multirotor design built for short sightseeing hops of about 30 km; the VT35 adds fixed wings and a pusher propeller in a lift-and-cruise layout aimed at longer intercity routes of around 200 km.

When did the VT35 first fly?

EHang unveiled it on 13 October 2025 and completed its first public flight on 28 December 2025, both in Hefei, China.
