Land Aircraft Carrier is a modular "flying car" developed by XPeng AeroHT, a Chinese eVTOL subsidiary of electric-car maker XPeng that markets its consumer products under the brand name Aridge. The product separates road and air travel into two linked vehicles: a six-wheeled, range-extended electric ground module that drives on public roads, and a smaller electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft that detaches from it to fly. XPeng AeroHT has said it expects the first mass production of the vehicle in 2026, and it has not yet entered commercial service.
XPeng AeroHT began life as an independent flying-car startup founded in Dongguan, Guangdong, in 2013, trading as HT Aero before XPeng invested in the company and renamed it in 2020. The Land Aircraft Carrier, also referred to as the Land Carrier, was unveiled in 2024 as the company's flagship product, following earlier Voyager X1 and Voyager X2 eVTOL demonstrator aircraft. In March 2025 XPeng chairman He Xiaopeng said mass production of the split flying car was expected in 2026, and the programme received further updates at XPeng's 2025 AI Day.
The concept is aimed at owners who want to drive to a clear area — such as a wide road, a car park or open ground — and then fly the detachable aircraft module for a short hop, rather than operating a conventional roadable aircraft that flies and drives as one unit.
The ground module, which XPeng AeroHT calls the "mothership", is a six-wheeled, all-wheel-drive electric vehicle built around an 800-volt silicon-carbide range-extended (EREV) powertrain, with rear-wheel steering intended to let it fit into standard parking spaces and underground garages. The company states a combined CLTC-cycle driving range of "over 1,000 km" for the ground module, sourced from its own in-house testing.
The flight module is a six-rotor eVTOL aircraft with a foldable dual-duct rotor design, allowing it to stow compactly on the ground module between flights. The ground module can recharge the flight module while driving or parked; the company states that a full charge of the mothership supports up to six flights of the aircraft. XPeng AeroHT has not published the aircraft's dimensions, weight, passenger capacity, flight speed, altitude or endurance.
XPeng AeroHT positions the Land Aircraft Carrier as a personal low-altitude flying vehicle rather than an air-taxi or commercial service aircraft, distinguishing it on the company's own site from its separate, longer-range A868 tilt-rotor model aimed at multi-passenger travel. The company has demonstrated the vehicle publicly, including at CES 2025 and at Auto Guangzhou 2025, and has said it is building manufacturing capacity for the product, though it has not announced a type certificate or a commercial price.
Not yet. XPeng AeroHT has said it expects mass production to begin in 2026; as of October 2026 it had not announced a type certificate, a confirmed delivery date or a retail price.
