DJI Matrice 4 Series
DJI · China · also known as DJI Matrice 4T, DJI Matrice 4E, Matrice 4T, Matrice 4E · Updated
DJI Matrice 4 Series is a compact enterprise drone line developed by DJI of Shenzhen, China, announced on 8 January 2025 in two models: the Matrice 4T for public safety and inspection, and the Matrice 4E for surveying and mapping. Both carry a shared triple-camera payload and DJI's O4 Enterprise transmission system, and the series is DJI's newest flagship for commercial drone operators.
Overview
DJI announced the Matrice 4 Series on 8 January 2025 as a more compact successor to its earlier Matrice 30 and Matrice 300 enterprise lines, aimed at emergency response, infrastructure inspection, energy management, surveying, mapping and construction. The DJI enterprise catalog previously had no dedicated Matrice series page on this site, despite entries for DJI's consumer and cinema lines. DJI's enterprise lead Christina Zhang described the series as ushering in "a new era of intelligent aerial operations," pointing to the aircraft's autonomous flight planning and night-operation tools.
The Matrice 4T is pitched at search and rescue, firefighting and power-line or bridge inspection, where its thermal camera and auxiliary spotlight are useful after dark. The Matrice 4E drops the thermal sensor in favour of a mechanical-shutter wide camera for distortion-free mapping at speed, targeting surveying, construction progress monitoring and large-area data capture. Both models share the same airframe, obstacle-sensing system and RTK-ready positioning for centimetre-level accuracy, and both run DJI's Pilot 2 app with support for third-party enterprise software.
Design and capabilities
The aircraft folds to 260.6 × 113.7 × 138.4 mm and unfolds to 307.0 × 387.5 × 149.5 mm, with a take-off weight of 1,219 g on standard propellers (1,229 g with low-noise propellers) and a maximum payload of 200 g. DJI quotes a maximum flight time of 49 minutes for the Matrice 4T and 46 minutes for the Matrice 4E, a maximum forward speed of 21 m/s (75.6 km/h), 18 m/s backward and 19 m/s sideways, a maximum operating altitude of 6,000 m, and take-off/landing wind resistance of up to 12 m/s. The O4 Enterprise video transmission system reaches up to 25 km under FCC rules (12 km under CE/SRRC/MIC rules). An omnidirectional binocular-vision obstacle-sensing system, supplemented by a 3D infrared sensor, detects obstacles from 0.3 to 200 m in every direction.
Both models carry a 48 MP wide camera (1/1.3-inch sensor, f/1.7, 82° field of view) alongside a medium-telephoto and a telephoto lens; the Matrice 4T's wide camera is paired with a dedicated thermal imager rated to 640 × 512 resolution and temperature measurement up to 550°C, plus a laser rangefinder measuring to 1,800 m. The Matrice 4E instead carries a 20 MP four-thirds wide camera with a mechanical shutter supporting rapid 0.5-second interval shooting for mapping, and DJI's Smart 3D Capture feature for generating rough models and survey routes directly on the remote controller.
Use cases
DJI positions the Matrice 4T for search and rescue, firefighting, police and emergency-response units, and for power-line, bridge and other infrastructure inspection that benefits from thermal imaging and night operation. The Matrice 4E is aimed at land surveying, construction-site monitoring and large-area mapping, where its mechanical-shutter camera and high-speed data capture reduce the time needed to cover a site.
