The Eve 100 is a battery-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi developed by Eve Air Mobility, the Brazilian urban air mobility subsidiary of Embraer. It carries one pilot and four passengers, and as of late 2026 it is flying as an uncrewed engineering prototype in an early flight-test campaign rather than in commercial service. Eve formally gave the aircraft the Eve 100 name at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2026; before that it was referred to only as Eve's eVTOL demonstrator.

Design and capabilities

The Eve 100 uses a lift-plus-cruise layout: eight fixed-pitch electric rotors, mounted on booms, lift the aircraft vertically and hold it in a hover, while a separate rear-mounted pusher propeller drives it forward once its fixed wings are generating lift. Keeping the lift rotors and the forward-flight propulsion as separate, non-tilting systems is a design choice Eve has said is intended to improve safety by avoiding components that must change position in flight. Wikipedia reports the company's original design target of a 100 km (60-mile) range for the production aircraft; Eve has not published an updated range figure since the flight-test campaign began, so this should be read as a design goal rather than a demonstrated result.

Programme status

An uncrewed, full-scale engineering prototype made its first flight, a hover, in December 2025 at Embraer's test facility in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo state. Eve is targeting type certification with Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), while also engaging the United States FAA and European EASA, and plans to build six fully conforming prototypes for the test programme.

After a pause for software and ground testing, the prototype returned to flight in mid-2026 and, in early August 2026, flew with its pusher propeller activated for the first time — a step toward the wing-borne transition flight needed before the aircraft can demonstrate cruise flight. Eve has signed non-binding sales commitments for thousands of Eve 100 aircraft, including agreements with United Airlines and Republic Airways in the United States, though none of these represents a firm order or an operator currently flying the type.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Eve 100 flying today?

An uncrewed engineering prototype is flying in early flight tests, including a hover-flight campaign that began in December 2025 and a first pusher-propeller activation in August 2026. No conforming or production aircraft has flown, and the Eve 100 is not yet certified to carry passengers.

How many people does it carry?

Five in total: one pilot and four passengers.

Who makes the Eve 100?

Eve Air Mobility, a Brazilian company that was spun out of Embraer in 2020 and remains majority-owned by it.

When will the Eve 100 enter service?

Eve has not confirmed a firm date. The company has targeted type certification in a range from 2027 to 2028 in various public statements; no certificate had been issued as of the most recent update.
