DJI Matrice 400 is an enterprise flagship multirotor developed by DJI of China, announced on 10 June 2025. It carries up to 6 kg of payload across four E-Port V2 ports, flies for up to 59 minutes, and is built for emergency response, infrastructure inspection, large-scale mapping and maritime patrol work.

Overview

DJI announced the Matrice 400 on 10 June 2025 as its new enterprise flagship drone platform, aimed at demanding commercial and public-safety missions. DJI's release names emergency response, search and rescue, firefighting, power-line inspection, large-scale mapping, engineering and construction, wind-turbine inspection and maritime patrol as target use cases, and says the aircraft can take off from a stationary vessel and land on a moving ship. The release does not position the Matrice 400 against any specific predecessor, and the catalog currently has no DJI Matrice 300- or 350-class entry; it is a separate, larger family from DJI's compact Matrice 4 Series (Matrice 4T/4E).

Design and capabilities

The aircraft measures 980 × 760 × 480 mm unfolded and folds to 490 × 490 × 480 mm, with a 1,070 mm diagonal wheelbase and 25-inch propellers. It weighs 5,020 ± 20 g without batteries and 9,740 ± 40 g with them, against a maximum take-off weight of 15.8 kg. Maximum payload is 6 kg on the screw-lock third gimbal connector (3 kg on the quick-release port), spread across seven payload positions on four E-Port V2 ports, with capacity falling as altitude increases. DJI rates the aircraft to IP55 and for operation between −20 °C and 50 °C, with a maximum take-off altitude of 7,000 m.

DJI's official specifications give a maximum flight time of 59 minutes forward flight (about 53 minutes with the AP100 parachute fitted) and a maximum hover time of 53 minutes, with a maximum flight distance of 49 km in no wind. Maximum horizontal speed is 25 m/s (90 km/h) at sea level, with ascent and descent rates of 10 m/s and 8 m/s. DJI's O4 Enterprise Enhanced Video Transmission system gives an unobstructed, interference-free range of up to 40 km under FCC rules (20 km under CE/SRRC/MIC rules); the specs block uses the FCC figure. The link supports an airborne relay module and dual DJI Cellular Dongle 2 modules for sub-2 GHz connectivity. Obstacle sensing combines LiDAR, millimetre-wave radar and low-light fisheye vision, which DJI says can detect hazards such as power lines at the aircraft's 25 m/s maximum speed.

DJI lists Smart Detection (including in thermal mode), Smart AR Projection, Power Line AR, Map View AR and Real-Time Terrain Follow among the Matrice 400's intelligent flight features. For US operators DJI offers a Local Data Mode and says flight logs are not automatically synced; DJI Care Enterprise Plus and an additional one-year warranty service are offered through authorised DJI Enterprise dealers.

Use cases

DJI markets the Matrice 400 for emergency response and search and rescue, firefighting, power-line and wind-turbine inspection, large-scale mapping, engineering and construction surveying, and maritime patrol, including operations launching from and recovering to vessels at sea.
